I think there is a lot from fight
club that I can used in my papers. Good papers always make an argument and then
state facts to prove that argument. In fight club we are put on a side and have
to make an argument for that side. If you want to win in fight club you have to
have good points backing up your argument. If your supporting points are weak,
you will not win in fight. Same goes for if your supporting points in a paper
are weak. Fight club has really taught me the impact that good supporting
points make in an argument.
Fight club also makes me work on
defending my argument. Once my argument is said and done, having people there
to question what I have said or what one of my points means is incredibly
helpful. This shows the importance of expanding on each point you make in a
paper. The point may seem logical and make sense to you, but it may not be the
same for your reader. It is very important to be clear and give background info
when you need to.
For me it can still be hard coming
up with an argument to begin with. Fight club is making it easier, but it’s something
in my writing that I am still working on. I also having a hard time continuing
to address my argument throughout my paper.
This is something we do in fight club, but is still a struggle for me
when it comes to writing.
It much easier to answer a naysayer
in a verbal environment rather than in a paper. I have a hard time predicting what
a naysayer would say and addressing that. That is much easier to do when there
is a naysayer right there with you and you clearly hear what they are saying.
"For me it can still be hard coming up with an argument to begin with. Fight club is making it easier, but it’s something in my writing that I am still working on." I feel the exact same way! I think a lot of it is just practice though, so hopefully we'll get there!
