My Rhetorical Analysis on My Research Paper

The overall process for writing this research paper was tiring but rewarding. Many words, many hours, and many tears went into my paper. There are a couple of things that I would have like to be different. The first is an earlier draft. I am a slow writer. Having a paragraph or page due every Thursday for each week would have been helpful instead of typing up an outline all at once (or a draft as I mistakenly did). By having a page or paragraph due each week, I personally think that I would have come up with more ideas to write about. Spacing my thoughts out over a period of weeks would have given me the opportunity to let my mind roam free about my stance on the argument I chose. Secondly, I would have liked to have known about Strunk and White a few weeks earlier in advance of the final draft. While writing my first couple drafts, I could have referred to Strunk and White in the process. But with the final draft due in a couple days, I can now only reread what I have written and make mostly minor changes rather than incorporating Strunk and White's ideas into my paper originally. Other than those two small changes to the research paper process, I feel everything else was effective for me in writing my paper: the in-class writing, and the short papers. The end result of my paper is a positive one; this is one of the best papers I have written.

  2. I agree with you that I'm a slow writer - I liked having multiple drafts due before the final draft so I could take time to think about my topic and my stance on it.

  3. Do you think this was one of your better papers because it required so much effort, or because of things we did in class to help write it?
