Shootings & the Effects of Rhetoric

Class,

In the advent of the terrible shootings in Oregon, I'd like to show you a piece of incredible journalism. This article omits the name of the shooter completely and frustrates his goal of ill-gotten fame.  Instead, the reporter glorifies the man, Chris Mintz, who selflessly strove to protect his classmates. If you ever doubt the importance of what you're learning here, remember that because this reporter has learned to write well, he has subtly excised the potential for the fame the shooter wanted to gain by means of shooting people.

Have a good weekend.

-Mr. S.
